39 unidentified remains found in a house, once to be a coffin shop, in Ho Chi Minh City.
Police in Ho Chi Minh City are looking for a woman who used to run a coffin shop in Binh Chanh District after 39 sets of unidentified remains were found packed in sacks.

The remains were found last month in sacks in a house that belongs to Le Viet Thuy.

Thuy, a 42-year-old Viet Kieu from Japan, said he discovered them in a room when he came back from Japan to visit the house, which was used to be rented by coffin shops.

He told police that he bought the house in 2004 under the name of Nguyen Viet Xuan, and then flew back to Japan.

The same year, Duong Van Loc, 46, called him and offered to lease his house for running a coffin shop .Thuy agreed.

In December 2007 Loc closed his business and transferred the shop to Dang Thi Diem Suong.

About two years later, Suong closed her business and has since disappeared, police said.

Meanwhile, an officer told Thanh Nien that initial investigation has found that in 2009 Suong signed a contract to relocate 184 graves in the district’s Da Phuoc Area.

While police look for Suong and investigate the case further, the remains are currently kept at the HCMC Center for Forensic Science.
