《Le Secret》 lyrics by Neige
《Élévation》 lyrics by Charles Baudelaire, from 《Les Fleurs Du Mal》
1. Le Secret
Sometimes the trees sway in a strange ballet,
Imitate my small body cradled by the wind,
And the ivy whispers familiar word.
View the world through children’s eyes
To smell the sweet exhaled perfumes
In a garden of which you captured the secret,
And then the laughing nymphs will sing
From the pearly glimmering river.
Above the lake, above the vales,
The mountains, forests, clouds and seas,
Beyond the sun, beyond the ether,
Beyond the edges of the starry spheres,
My spirit, with agility you move,
And like a good swimmer bracing the waves,
You soar lightly into profound immensity
With an ineffable male delight.
Fly far away from this deadly miasma,
Purify yourself in the air above,
And drink the ethereal fire of those limpid realms,
Like the purest exquisite nectar.
Beyond vast sorrows and affliction
Burdening fogged existence with spleen,
Blessed is he who can, with steady wings,
Soar towards bright and serene fields.
He whose thoughts, like larks,
Fly off towards the morning skies
—Hover over life, and understand with ease
The language of flowers and silent things!
