It's harder than you think to say goodbye to someone who's become part of your life, especially when you haven't notice it happening.
At first the boy thought: But you do what you have to do, and just get on with things. Alas it's not that easy to "just get on with things". And we see that moment happening when the boy suddenly turned his ship round, trying desperately to find his little penguin. At that time it was the boy who was lost in the sea of penguins.
The boy had worked out all the ambitious plans just to get his visitor back to the South Pole. But he had never imagined that when the moment finally came, it would be so hard to say farewell. But then again, the boy and the penguin could never be happily together in that lovely little town at the very beginning if it wasn't for the long journey afterwards.
The very long way from shore, a small boat and both on board... Perhaps someone wasn't lost, but really is lonely. And maybe they were not the only one.
This all began with someone lost and someone found. Who is to say which was which. There was a boy and there was a penguin, strangers from opposite sides of the ocean. And like the beginning of any friendship, there's this remarkable story indeed.
