This book is a true gem, and I’m surprised it’s not more known. Written in clear language, it compares the dominant thinking structures of Westerners (e.g. US & Europe) with that of East Asians (e.g. China & Japan). It goes back to Aristoteles and Confucius, but also using ecology, economy and culture to rationalise it, as well as experiments to prove it. Whilst very generalising by its very nature, ‘The Geography of Thought’ shed light on differences which I was completely unaware about. It is not only useful to read if you wish to understand other people better, you can even use it to your individual advantage and try to alternate your thinking structure for your own benefit.
