Just finished “Love, Simon”’s original novel: Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda.
The film is an echo of last year’s Call Me By Your Name. But the difference is that it features the teenager coming-out and love story, like a gay version of High School Musical.
What I like the most is that Simon gets to know his boyfriend online, not by social media. Actually, they only write each other via Email. It is their regular mail exchange that makes them encouraged to come out to their parents, and in the same way, they are becoming increasingly close and intimate. Finally, they meet in person.
The plot makes it normal to see gay teenagers having a crush on another soul, kiss and love. For homosexual youths, it’s a great reference for their lives.
