“Yesterday lasts forever.
Tomorrow comes never.
Until you”
― Penelope Douglas, Bully

WOW,what a relief ! I finally can breathe right now. I've been burying my head reading and listening the EPIC Fall Away series for the past 4 days 24/7 literally! NO KIDDING!

My reading order of this series is: (The reason that I choose to read in the following order is just because I can't wait to find out the whole story of Tate and Jared.)
#1 Bully
#2 Until you
#3 Aflame
#4 Next to Never
#5 Rival
#6 Falling away

Now, I can officially announce that I finished reading the 5 books (except for the 5.5 the bonus book) and begin to write my FIRST EVER REVIEW on goodreads !

Honestly speaking, I haven't read the Romance Novel for a long long time, but I did read a lot back in high school and college (most of them are Chinese novels and I'm kinda fed up with the cheesy plot and cliche set up in those Chinese contemporary romance novels).

As a non-English speaker reader , I highly recommend those intermediate to advanced learners of English try to read YA and NA novels and especially trying to read this series, for the English words in this book is not very complicated and the novel is also beautifully written.

I found this highly rated book by accident and I'm attracted to it instantly right after reading the PLOT summary. It really intrigued me and decided to read the whole series.

I have to admit that Ms. Penelope Douglas did an absolutely stunning job in her story-telling skills and know how to capture her readers' attention. I just can't keep my ears away and keep listening to the audiobook. I completed lost myself in the stories of the lovely characters.

In the beginning of Bully, Tate and Jared just didn't get along in every possible way! Jared was like a big fat nightmare to Tate and Tate even escaped from him to France for a year just to avoid the non-stop bullying sessions. However, Tate came back and she realized that she needed to fight back as well. Still, Tate kept wondering why the hell her used to be so sweet the boy next door become so reckless and angry, particularly throwing all the tantrum only to her. Jared took her as the one and only target and his sidekick Madoc played it all along with him , well sometimes Madoc even added extra fuel to all the BS that Jared had created for Tate in high school.

Jared really annoyed me and pissed me off while I was reading halfway through this book. How can he be such a jerk and a huge asshole to the girl that he fell for since he was 10? He just became the first male character that I have encountered in my reading history who treated his dream girl in the wrong way as horrible as it can be. Simply speaking, let's just use the word how the author portrayed Jared' behavior to Tate : BULLY . Hell yeah, the handsome bastard Jared was bullying our beautiful and vulnerable Tate. I just don't get it!If you really cared and loved someone, why would you want to destroy her and ruin her?

After listening chapter by chapter and reading pages by pages, Jared had his own side of the story and somehow justified himself eventually. After he listening the monologue written by Tate, his whole world collapsed and finally starting to reminisce the warm memories and the good old times with the dearest girl next door-Tate.

(OMG! Can I just stop here for a while and give Ms. Penelope Douglas a round of applause of her fresh and elegant writing in the monologue? I was deeply moved by the essay and laughed with Tate's sense of humor in the way how she finished reading the essay.)

Without a doubt, Tate happened to be the best thing that Jared had ever had. Without her existence in his once miserable life, I couldn't imagine what worst things would happen to Jared and how could he survive after I knowing his whole story.

Her sweetness, her happy family and her smile was everything to him. TATE was like the Angel who fell from the sky to rescue Jared.

I'm really into the tension ,struggle and sexual tension between Jared and Tate. He pushed her away from his life and intended to create a "bubble" to protect her in a wrong way. Although Jared kept crushing her down, to some extend, he also somehow made her bullet proof to those bystanders. When it came to only him and her, their vulnerable and fragile heart exposed to each other. I won't forget the rainy and stormy day scene. When Tate and Madmen entered Jared house, Tate caught Jared was going through an emotional breakdown. That was also when Jared held her from the back and both of them realized that they both wanted each other badly deep down inside of their heart.

What I like about Jared was how he handled the "Video" issue. He cared about Jared and respect her and her father. I didn't think that he would call Tate's father and tell him everything before he heard from other people. I thought he would deal with this issue secretly. From this point, I felt that he was very thoughtful, mature and responsible. He could be the ONE for Tate.

I have to admit that the ending is a little bit rush, but Penelope continued their story in other books and even wrote another full-length novel about their life after high school.

If you really like their story in BULLY , please don't hesitate and go ahead to read the Aflame and Penelope won't let you down!
