fancy world

There are 7 books in this set and this book is usually considered as the prequel of the legend of Narnia according to the timeline. And this book is not only for children but also adults the same as The Little Prince.

As a children’s high fancy fiction, its very easy to read with its clear and simple words. I think Lewis and Daniel Defoe share the belief that the beauty of the language lies in the easy-understanding and plain words.
Though the words are very simple, but the imagination not. Sometimes you feel amazing how things would happen like that. The most awesome idea is about the amazing growth energy of Narnia land, that it will grow up no matter what you put into the earth. You plant a lamp-post, it grows up to be a lamp-post; and you plant a toffee, it comes out a tree full of toffee on the branches. It is really a land of youth and everything there is new and fresh, full of hope, the very opposite of the desperate Charn. Since I just came back to Karachi not for long, it attracts me most seeing the fast disappearing speed of my full-suitcase Chinese snacks. In my heart, there is one voice shouting louder and louder that I want it, I want to bury all the snacks in the soil and then they grow up into various of snacks trees which can afford me and my fellows to eat for the whole year. Anyway, it’s a good dream and I love it came once, bringing me great joy and leaving me hope.

This is a story of two children’s adventure, Digory and Polly, to other worlds by chance. Digory’s Uncle Andrew is a magician who possesses a private study in the attic, which is discovered by them in their exploring trip at that wet summer. Then the door of adventure opens. With the magic of the yellow and green rings , they come to the Wood between of Worlds, the Charn, the new Narnia and meet a series of people and things, like the Witch Jadis, the horse Strawberry, the cabby and the lion Aslan and experience a lot of things together, happy or sad, easy or tough.
Through those incidents, I was much moved by the precious quality they hold, integrity, kindness, braveness and utter innocence. Maybe we human beings are like this, the older we grow, the more we fear that stops us from following our hearts and principles. But children are not. They hold on to their hearts, they insist what they believe, they do what they think right.
Polly disappeared the moment she touched the ring. And though Digory knew clearly it’s so risky and dangerous to go to a totally unknown world, his friend was there, he needed to get her back, so he put on the ring to rescue her. It’s the responsibility for the friend.
They took the Witch to their world accidentally, and she messed up all things in London, though scared of getting close to her, Digory tried every means to get her out the real world to leave it in peace. It’s the responsibility for the society.
When he promised to Aslan that he would get him the silver apple of youth, he, Polly and Fledge climbed mountains and rivers to get it. Though Digory wanted to save his seriously-illed mom, facing the allurement of Jadis, he kept his promise and gave the fruit he hungered and thirsted and wept to Alsan to protect the Narnia land. It's the responsibility of promise.
When they got though all of these, they came back to the real world. Digory’s mother got cured by the silver apple presented by Aslan and his father far away in India wrote that he was coming back to be with them. Everything got fine. It’s just like it said in the book, “when things go wrong, you'll find they usually go on getting worse for some time; but when things come start going right they often go on getting better and better.”

All in all, this is a good book to read, either children or adults. Come on and in, and you'll find a new fancy world.
