“Homage to thee, O son of Rā”

Hymn to Shu (Harris, No. 501)

A Man and His Soul(所谓古埃及厌世文学,和古埃及神学和哲学都有着极深的联系),残篇也有一些好的,Hymns则普遍纯文学水准平平.

A Man and His Ba(在古埃及,灵魂被称为Ba)。

......

Who can I talk to today?

For wrong roams the earth;

there is no end to it.

......

Death is to me today

like a sick man's recovery,

like going out after confinement.

Death is to me today

like the smell of myrrh,

like sitting under a sail on a windy day.

Death is to me today

like the smell of flowers,

like sitting on the shore of Drunkenness.

Death is to me today

like a well-trodden path,

like a man's coming home from an expedition.

Death is to me today

like the sky's clearing,

like a man grasping what he did not know before.

Death is to me today

like a man's longing to see home,

having spent many years in captivity.

......

What my soul said to me:

'Throw the complaint over the fence,

O my partner, my brother!

May you make the offering upon the brazier,

and cling to life by the means you describe!

......

I shall alight when you are weary;

so shall we make harbour together!'

I shall come to rest after thou hast relaxed (in death). Thus we shall make a home together.

So it ends, from start to finish,

as found in writing.
