The Epistles to the Colossians and to Philemon
The consequences for the Christian perspective are thus also clear. If Jesus, the Christ, is so highly favored and acknowledged to be God's "right-hand man", with all the power and authority to effect God's will and to protect his own which is implicit in that claim, then Chritian life should be entirely oriented by reference to this Christ.
This is summed up in the exhortation τά 'άνω ζητειτε, in which τά 'άνω (the things above) is a shorthand way of referring to heaven (Jn8:23; Gal4:26; Phil3:14). ζητειτε (present tense) probably has the force not so much of "try to obtain, desire to possess" as of "keep looking for" that which is of Christ or from heaven in the situations of daily living. What is in view is a complete reorientation of existence.
