Book report Book Report introduction My book journal for this semester is pride and prejudice, writened by Jane Austin. Now I will make a brief introduction about the story: the Bennet is a family with five daughters ,in which era women have no right to inherit her father's possession if they don't have a brother. So the only way to become rich for girls is to marry a gentleman who might own properties, whereas miss bennets are still in single. So the story mainly tells the sisters, elegant and kind Jane and intelligent and minded Elizabeth(lizzy) ,who met rich Mr.Bingley and his pride friend,Mr.Darcy.finally,both of them attain romantic and felicity. For women in that era,who are not allowed to become writer and coming out literatures,Jane Austin,as the third greatest writer in Britain.(besides Shakespear)I deem that she is beyond her era, teaching us philosophy about a balance, between sensibility and reason, romantic love and realistic, and the most real humanity. The Body of the Book Report 1. reoccurring symbols As my point of view, the main conflict between lizzy and Mr.Darcy is the gap for their personality,as the name of this book:Darcy's pride,Lizzy's prejudice. But there exists a key immediate character, who I disgusted deeply,Mr.Wickham.he cheated lizzy about the reality and speak ill of darcy, furtheremore tried to induce young ladies to elope with him so he can extort a large portion of money.he is the reoccurring character and author gave a lots of hints for his bad virtue, and when Mr.Darcy made proposal for Lizzy, the divergence regarding Wickham has totally broken up. 2. Romantic partners and marriage Both lizzy and darcy, jane and bingley have their complicated characterastics, but it shows that a pair of matched partner can be opt to change each other to be better even they own totally different personality. Besides,it is also a enlighting point that the story won't end by a traditional plot saying that they are free from trouble and becoming absolutely happy. They still need to deal with some tough relationship with their relatives(like Mrs.Bennet and Lady Catherine, the aunt of Darcy who hates lizzy since she wants darcy to marry with her own daughter) But the equal romantic relationship surpasses social status and wealth possession is the most attractive point for me in this book. 3. Describing pattern On the one hand,Miss Austin is skilled at writing details, by using some funny words and vivid expression to highlight one's characterstics .But she won't let them be absolutely impeccable which proof her careful observation for her daily life. And her options for adopting which words or phrases are sometimes make you feel she must be a adorable girl with humor. On the other hand, the describings of natural attractions are also classical. For instance, when it mentioned the mountains and lakes in Pemberley, whose inspiration originated from the Lake Region in Britain. It just like you are personally on the scene. The same as the view in England countryside. 4. tone and style Differ from other women writer who struggle for writing right like Bronte sisters (wuthering heights and jane Eyre)or Louisa May(little women) The tone is bright and tender, like a soft wind compared with the desolate foggy scene on the mount written by Bronte sisters. And the writing style is so incisive to criticize those who are in hypocrisy and vanity. The Conclusion Pride and prejudice is my favorite book, and the spirit of jane Austin structure my dream to become a great writer, though it was a pity that she didn't marry till her death. She dedicated herself into the story and build up a wonderful world for us.To some extent, pride and prejudice can be regarded as my own"Mr.Darcy". It constantly accompanies with me in my every stage along my jouney.Reading in different age will bring me different experience. Quote a sentence as the end: "If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me at once,My affections and wishes are still unchanged.but one word from you will silence me on the subject for ever."
